Personal Statement Explaining why I created this website
By now we have all seen the videos of the men and boys being shaved, humiliated, brutalized and turned into inmates at CECOT. We’ve seen the video of a mother crying and swearing to GOD that her son was not a gang member. The pain I heard in her voice, was a pain so intense and so profound that I simply don’t have a word in my vocabulary to describe it. I can’t imagine how a mother could endure watching her child being hurt at that level.
I created this website because if that was MY MOTHER crying, I pray to God that someone would step up and help her.
I created this website for people who have seen those videos, and read the stories and are horrified and overwhelmed and don’t know what to do.
I created this website to be non-partisan, not accuse anyone, not to point fingers, no blame - just get them out of CECOT.
If there are 252 Venezuelan boys and men in Cecot, then –
190 – Have no criminal record
37 – Have been arrested? Charged? Convicted? – for a “minor” crime?
These 227 men are certainly not gang members.
A mistake was made
As for the other 38 boys and men in CECOT –
What type of crime was it? Have they been convicted in a court of law? Were they sentenced? What was their sentence? Are they gang members? Do they qualify as “The-Worst-of-the-Worst?” are they “despicable human beings?” How bad does your crime have to be to get into CECOT? Does the punishment fit the crime?
As Americans we now have to face 2 stories about the innocent men and boys living in a megaprison in foreign country.
The first story says: This is a constitutional crisis. There is a power struggle between our 3 branches of government; The President, Congress and our Legal System. The Checks and Balances of the American Constitution are in danger.
The second story says: Innocent people have been sent to hell on earth. They are living inside a House of Horrors. And we don’t know how to get them out.
Both stories are happening at the same time and we have to pull them apart. Because I know in every corner of my heart and in every fiber of my being, that there is no good to be gained by making all of these mothers suffer. There’s already enough suffering in this world. I feel that dedicating my time and effort to help reunite these families can be a small step on the road to making the world a better place.
That’s why I created this website
