Jesús Alberto Ríos Andrade
Jesus entered the United States legally in July 2023 as an asylum seeker
He was working in the construction field in New Mexico
Jesus is married to a U.S. citizen (Sep. 10, 2024) and was in the process of obtaining permanent residency, a work permit, and even Temporary Protected Status. In addition, his wife had sent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services the Form I-130 Petition for an Alien Relative.
He has a tattoo of a rose on his neck and no criminal record. He was following all of the regulations for his immigration process
On February 1, 2025 Jesus and his wife were loading the car to go to the laundromat. ICE arrived and took Jesus into custody. They told his wife they had a warrant.
While in detention, Jesus was able to communicate with his wife. She kept tabs on his location through ICE’s detainee tracker. From New Mexico he was transferred to the El Paso and El Valle detention centers, in Texas. The last time his wife spoke with Jesus was on Saturday, March 15, at 8 a.m. He told her that he was getting ready for the plane in which he assumed he would be sent to Venezuela.
His wife called the El Paso detention facility to ask what was happening. A man who answered left the phone off the hook. She heard him say: ‘Oh, that's the guy they took to the ugly prison in El Salvador,’”
The next day, Jesus disappeared from ICE's detainee tracking system. His wife didn't see him in the videos and photos posted by the Salvadoran government. She confirmed that he was in CECOT when the list from CBS was published.
